Just wondering, right now I have a WIfi card on my desktop, and also a wired connection to a router. I use the Wifi conection to surf the internet, but I want to also keep the wired connection so I can transfer files faster to my laptop (Wifi B's way too slow). Now the thing is is I keep both connections enabled, XP doesn't seem smart enough to use the Wifi connection to access the internet, which means I have to disable the wired connection in order to access the internet. Is there some way to manage it so that XP uses only the WIfi connection for internet?

If you use NetBEUI for file sharing, you can just unbind TCP/IP on the Ethernet in the Network Properties dialog. Then all TCP/IP traffic goes through Wi-Fi and you should be set.

Also, you can try setting your own Metric option in the Advanced TCP/IP properties. Higher number means less desireable connection. This works great for people in the opposite situation as you: don't want to use wireless while wired.

Of course, you can try Internet Connection Sharing or whatever it takes to provide Internet over Ethernet.
