In another thread of mine it was mentioned that most blu-ray players do not come with software to play blu-ray discs, and this software can cost $100.00 or so. I did a quick Google and came up with these:
http://www.videohelp.com/tools/PotPlayer
http://www.winxdvd.com/resource/free-blu-ray-player.htm

Just curious if anyone has tried either of these, and how well it worked, or didn't. I guess VLC has blu-ray support, but not the encoding part, so it can only play unencrypted discs if I understand what they are saying. That would have been my first choice of player.

Well let me know, and thanks in advance!

I've ne'er tried or heard of the Winxdvd DAPlayer, but I have used PotPlayer before. It works pretty well and I've used it mostly for DVDs.

There is some amount of manual setting up, well in my case since I was using it on a laptop. Other than that, I haven't had any minor or major issues with it.

VLC can play encrypted disks you just need to do some manual setup with some files. I did it once just to try it out and it worked but I have powerdvd and just use that.
