Hi,

I currently have this memory kit (G.SKILL F2-6400PHU2-2GBHZ PC2-6400 2GB 2X1GB DDR2-800 CL4-4-4-12 240PIN Dual Channel) installed on my computer and was considering purchasing this to go along with it (OCZ Gold XTC PC2-6400 2GB 2X1GB DDR2-800 CL5-5-5-12 240PIN DIMM Dual Channel Memory) (not as expensive as the G.skill and have no intention of Overclocking in the near future).

Will I have compatibility issues?

Thanks!

It would work, but dual channel wouldn't. and the 4-4-4 timings on the ram maybe auto clock to the same as the 5-5-5 to match. Sounds good.

Hi f1y,

Thanks for the speedy reply

Just so I understand correctly.
The dual channel wouldn't work because I'm installing a different type of RAM or it wouldn't work because dual channel only works when you have no more than 2 DIMM?

Thanks!

nah, dual channel should work...best practice would be to do each set in dual channel config to make sure they like each other...ie if you do dual channel as dimm1 and dimm3 then put all g.skill dimm1/dimm3 and the ocz dimm2/dimm4. i've got a dual channel server rig running with 2gb of crucial and 2gb of samsung.
