Two ATI GPU in a SLI mobo

I just want to know is it possible to run two ati x1600 in the pci-express slots for dual monitors?

Is it possible or difficult to do?

Yes, that configuration will work. You just can't run crossfire.

Yes,And a single 1600 will run dual monitors in one slot if you like too.

seems kind of pointless 2 buy 2 cards for dual monitors; just use one card.
