Two Athlon 64 Questions

I am looking into getting an Athlon 64 processor (Socket 754 model - not the FX!). Am I correct in thinking that it requires registered RAM? Also, does anyone have any suggestions on a power supply that I should get for it? I'm not near it (so I can't say the brand for certain) but my current XP 2500+ has a 400 Watt power supply.

The Athlon 64 chips (3000, 3200, 3400) don't require registered RAM, only the FX-51 needs to have that.

As for power requirements, I would think that a 400watt PS would be more than plenty to run a single A64.

My only advice is, don't go cheap on your PS. Get quality...

I have a friend that is running an AMD athalon 64 3200 , he tried using his old allied 400watt psu and the bios wouldnt even post, went to an antec true blue 400 and it hasnt skipped a beat yet, he is also running 3 harddrives and a dvd +/- rw, just a little fyi there for ya
 
Then, I am looking into CMX512-3200C2PT (Corsair XMS series 512 MB Unbuffered PC 3200 with platinum heat spreaders). This will work fine with Athlon 64? Sorry for the rudimentary nature of these questions. I had a friend who told me that even the non-FX processors required registered RAM and haven't been able to find any documentation anywhere about it.

No, the normal Athlon 64 uses unregistered RAM, though I'm not really sure if the Athlon 64 non-FX supports dual channel yet.
 
I only have a 380w antec true power that came with my sonata case. Is there a place where I can calculate the power requirements. I'm planning on having 3 HD's 3 optical drives...
