I'm at a loss.

I just installed my 2nd 260. The 2nd card is only pushing 4k when the first is pushing 7k.

OC are the same. I'm so confused..... don't even know where to begin, any ideas?

 
Is one a core 216 and the other a regular version (with 192 shaders)? It doesn't make any sense for two of the same exact model to not give the same output.

 
both are identical, super clock edition 192 shaders

 
That is interesting. I have an 8800 GTS SSC and an 8800 GTS Reg together and they both put out exactly what they are supposed to. That is completely weird that you are having that problem.
 
At this point, I think it's best to wipe the drivers clean with Driver Cleaner then reinstall the latest.

 
are you running vista? and if not are they both running on the same core?
 
Try useing the environmental variable "NV_FAH_CPU_AFFINITY" to lock both GPU clients to the same CPU core.
How to is Here.
I always lock my multi-GPU clients to the last CPU core then keep my VM's off that core.
Nut I'm running XP on my boxen.

OK i think this might be related to the issue.....

In Riva tuner, what ever I change on one card, the same thing happens to the other.
EX: I change shaders to 1496 on one card, and I switch to the other.... It has already moved to that.

I think things are mixed up here.

Is there any other program that does multi GPUs?

 
Here is what I've figured out......
Both cards are fine, i've switched them around in the mobo

I found that when I have one card in I can change the settings, as long as it is in the first slot

If I have a card in the second slot I can't change anything

I think the card is getting stuck in 2d mode (lower settings) and folding at that speed.

Any idea how to make this right? The mobo is a MSI PN7 SLI plat.

Do you have a monitor/kvm/dummy connector hooked up to it ??
Can you alter the size of the secomd desktop ??
Does TivaTuner let you overclock the second card ??

If only one monitor, try attaching the monitor to the second card while the system boots.
Then hot swop back to the first card and see if that makes a difference.
But you may need a monitor/kvm/dummy attached to the second card for it to work correctly at every boot.

It's not a dummy plug problem... I have something hooked up.

It folds too.... just very slow for what it should do.

I need a way to kick this card out of 2d and into preform 3d settings and get the shaders going.

 
I have 2 BFG GTX 260's in Vista x64. I use Nvidia's System Tools with ESA Support 6.03 to overclock both cards.

Watch out if you have Riva Tuner installed. I installed Riva once and it messed up Nvidia System Tools so bad I had to use Driver Cleaner to strip the driver off Vista after uninstalling Riva and System Tools..then reinstall drivers and System Tools and everything was back to normal.

To find out if its the MoBo or not, take the first card out and boot with only the second card in the second slot.
What PpD does that combo run at ??

I've done that..... both cards produce at proper lvl when they are the only card and in slot one.

I've ordered a new mobo and started an RMA on the existing one......

/sigh another reinstall :(

 
just an idea kendrak.. if your running a single display have you tried attaching your monitor to the second card with a vga cable and a dvi cable to the first one.. might fool it into forcing it to use 3d mode.. also in rivatuner you can change the clock speed for 2d mode to force it to use the same clock speed as you use in 3d mode.. might help.. dunno..


btw you can install ntune for your nvidia drivers.. should show both gpu clocks in your nvidia control panel..
 
Another wild guess, did you try the latest Rivatuner ? I also remember having a problem with unrecognized clock speed on my dual 8800GS setup until I upgraded Rivatuner.

I said leave the card in the second slot, not the first.
I read that you tested both cards by them selves in the first slot, but did you test both cards by them selves in the second slot ??
That would have told you if it was the MoBo that was slow, the card still gave lower PpD, or if it was a driver error, the card gave you the correct PpD by its self in the second slot.

did just what you siad last night. both cards where tested in the first and second slots, it is jsut the second slot that is bad. new mobo is on the way.
 
sounds like maybe the second slot wasnt going past pci-e 4x or something.. wonder if it might of been a bios error as well.. hopefully the second one works better..
 
PCI-E x4 is fast enough to run the cards at full speed.
Half my GTX+'s are in x4 slots and they run at the same speed as the ones in x16 slots.
The min slot speed is around x2.

I have been using Nvidia's System Tools on multicard setups for about a year now. Works great. Fan, Core, Mem and shader overclock. You can select each card seperatly.
Save oc profiles for later recall and have Windows apply your settings at bootup.
I really dont know why people mess with Riva Tuner. I've had nothing but bad luck and unstable cards with it.

well nvidia just brought back the whole being able to test overclocks.. to bad its horrible.. it gives me a different optimal speed everytime.. or fails overclocks that i know work perfectly.. heck even had times where it down clocked my card instead of overclocking.. rather use riva tuner to do my overclocks and test them my self..
