Hey guys, if I have a tv with a built in HDTV tuner, then do I still need to get a tuner box from the cable company to watch HD programming? Also, been scouting out plasmas and LCD HDTVs at BB and CC and while watching some HD boxing, some parts of the screen tend to pixelate or blur. Whatever you want to call it. Is this the tv's fault or the HD signal.
Thanks.

Truthfully wether you will need an stb or not is really depending on if the built in tuner is CableCard Ready / Digital Cable Ready or an older ATSC only tuner. The CCR/DCR tv's will be able to accept a cable card which you rent from the cable company for a minor fee. The cable card will allow you to get all of the HD programming the cable company provides but you will not get pay-per-view a guide from the cable company, usually tv has a free guide built in like the TVGuide epg. If it is just a standard ATSC tuner than you will only be able to get Over the Air digital programming.

The pixelation in the store is most likely just a video distrobution problem within the store. Though it is possible that its just the lossy nature of the MPEG-2 format but not as likely.

Thanks alot. I keep hearing about those Cable Cards and didn't know what they were. Thanks for explaining it, tho, I've just been too lazy to research it.
