So my new cable box has two Firewire 1394 outputs (it is a SA3250HD). I am on mac (OS X, Macbook) and would like to know how I can record TV from this. I know that I will not be able to record encrypted channels, but it was a cheap cable so I though I might as well try. Anyways, I got this program called HackTVCarbon that will allow to watch it, but is there a (free) program that will allow me to do timed recordings? I have this Virtual DHVS thing, but it does not seem to have a timer function, and the interface looks different than other peoples (I got this one from apples website). Apparently there is some modified version of the program, but I can not find it hosted.

Thats a really great program, just what I was looking for actually. To bad its power pc, but I can deal with that. Thanks.
Can you post back if it works ok on a x86 Mac?
