I've heard they're decent cards but you sure they use the 'exact chips' as the pvr250/350? The inital description lists a variety of peculiarities like 'theatre 200', plain ole 'connexant' and 'Phillips'. I was researching the Avermedias heavily before settling upon the PVR250. People didn't seem to favor them as much as the pvr 250/350 over at AVS forums. Their not quite as supported as the PVR yet either but the avermedia seems to have its strong points as well. High image quality, hardware encoding for the midrange models and growing support+compatibility.Originally posted by CrimandEvil
If you want a HD tuner then thats the best you could get.
As for regular TV how about these:

Exact same quality as a PVR250 /350 because they use the same chips.

ATI eHome Wonder - This card is a brand new WinXP MCE hardware encoding card that uses a combination of the excellent ATI Rage Theater 200 found on AIW cards and the well known iVAC16 chip used on the PVR-250 and others. This is known to work just fine with GotTV and mostly work with SageTV 1.4 and should be fully compatible with Sage 2.0.
AverMedia m150 - inepxensive new WinXP MCE compliant MPEG2 encoding card using the same MPEG2 encoder as the Hauppuage PVR-250 paired with a CX32880 for the TV receiving chip. This is known as the "Blackbird" reference design.
Please note: this is a newer and much better card than the m179 which had many quality issues and is now being phased-out. This card is known to work with GotTV and will work with Sage 2.0 when it is released.
