TV tuner

Need some advice on a good tv tuner but not one that is going to be over priced (no more than $110)

I was surprised I can't see anyone asking about this in the last 40 pages but I may have missed it.

The PVR-150 seems to be getting used more than any other TV tuner.

It depends on what you want to tune. Are you looking at standard TV or are you thinking HDTV?

For standard TV, hauppauge is pretty much recognized as being the leader for PVR cards. For Hauppauge, stick with the hardware based tuners like the PVR 150 and the PVR 500 (a dual tuner). The ATI 550 tuners have some users also, though the chipset is a lot newer.

For HDTV, you can record OTA (Over The Air) broadcasts (if available in your area -> check out www.antennaweb.org to find out). The DVICO FusionHDTV and the VBOX Cat's Eye cards can tune OTA signals.

If you're building an MCE system the I would suggest getting a card based on ATI's 550 Pro chip.
