I just got a new apartment and dont want to put a tv into it. i want to make my monitor act as my tv. I want to have a setup that will alow me to use a VCR and a PS2 with the monitor acting as my display. what should i get to do this? I have a patch cord to make is to i can patch the audio cables from the VCR/PS2 to the audio in jack on my comp (ic7-g onboard sound) so really i need the video the most but if i can get somthing that will handle the video and the audio in one package that would be cool too. thx for time

The ATI AIW cards have a breakout box that has all the RCA inputs and an S-video input. I have an AIW 9000 in my HTPC, and it is currently inputting my VCR onto my 1800FP.

the hauppauge tv tuner is a nice one, it should have all the ports u need to run vcr, tv, video games and such.

try the Leadtek tv tuner. it will do what you want and for $60 you can't go wrong! you might be able to find it cheaper if you check out ebay or pricewatch. i would reccommend that over a AIW card or hauppage. you'll pay too much!

I have that Leadtek card, and it's currently in a static bag, in a box, because the AIW cards (and stand-alone ATI TV Wonder cards) were better and offered a better picture quality, along with better software suites.

yup a tv tuner will work

if you need a new monitor, you might (and i'm not definite on this)
look into a hdtv monitor, i beleive some come with a computer dvi in, and normal hook ups

sorry if this is a stupid question but can i put in an AIW and just use it for the tv stuffs and keep my radeon 9800 for gfx?

and "all in wonder" is just that, a video card/tv tuner on the same card.

you will just have to replace whatever video card you have now with the all in wonder version.

though id reccomend a seperate tv tuner, only if you upgrade your video card regularly, because once the AIW is too slow for ya, youll have to buy another one, instead you can keep the tv tuner no matter what video card you get.

if i get this will it do what i want? meaning the yellow cord from the vcr with an Svideo adapter to plug it into the card and and that audio in port which i can plug in the patch cord that turns the red/white audio cords into one plug. then i can put the PS2 into the vcr and it will all run?card

Look into a hauppauge pvr-250. It has a hardware encoder and should have a better picture then the other cards.

You can get a PCI AIW7000 or 9000 and keep your 9800.

Or you can just buy the higher end standalone tuner card, which will be denoted by it coming with remote wonder 2.
