does tv tuner serve as a Video in video out card???

also i wanna use this to play movies on my computer onto my tv... i believe it does, just wanna be corrected.. does the sound carry through the coaxial cable...so i dont have to rig some speakers up

this would prolly be better in the HTPC section however tv tuner cards are more often than not only for input. if you want to go with tv out then your best bet is to find a video card wth svideo/composite out. a large portion of the video cards today have this.

yea...i was trying to avoid that though...all those wires... i figured it would be easier to run one wire instead of a few

but if thats an easier option

i wanna use this on a computer that is used for more than just media

someone mentioned to me about an RCA wire

A tuner card will allow you to play video on the PC. Most do this with software - the better ones have an onboard encoder.

To play the recorded video back to the TV again the card will need an onboard decoder to demodulate the signal.
Which is why I chose the Hauppauge PVR-350 for my system. Because I wanted the option
of playing the captured video directly back to the TV without having to burn DVD's.
Also, it basically makes your system act just like a TiVo = pause and continue live broadcast etc ... :)

Only thing is the pvr-350 does not allow you to display your desktop on the TV without
3rd party software. Not sure I'd want to do that anyway with the lower TV resolutions.

P. S. - yes, the audio is carried back to the TV by the component output. It's just
like hooking up a VCR, just be sure to use the included adapter.

The coaxial on the PVR-350 is for input only. The second coaxial connector you see in the pictures
is for an FM radio antenna.
