So far I have had every AIW from ATI in the last 3 years [ok not EVERY one, just a 7000aiw/8500DV [actually the best one they ever made]/9000aiw/9600aiw/9800aiw/HDTV Wonder] and they all rocked. Or at least I thought they did until Wednesday when I got a CHEAP hardware mpeg card. The Hauppauge PVR-150MCE. I almost fell out of my chair on the difference of picture. The AIW cards ALL looked pretty much EXACTLY the same as far as cleanness of picture [they were all actually a tad fuzzy with my lousy cable stream [awesome modem crap TV]. This card made my non HDTV look almost as clean as my HDTV. I fell out of my chair when I saw the card. It is the same card as the 150 and 250 [non MCE] except it has a radio tuner, no remote, and does all its digital to analog on a single chip instead of dual chips of the 250 . But its less than 70 bucks and is MADE for MCE 2005. Card = 70ish. Remote = 40ish so for 110is I could not recommend a better PVR/DVR card out there for the price.
If you are willing to wait a while, Hauppauge is releasing the PVR-500 which has dual TV tuners on a single card, so pip and record one channel watch another. Or what not.
ATI's package out of the box is awesome. I really did enjoy watching it mature and grow but now that I have an awesome little SFF with the PVR-150MCE on XP MCE 2005 I will never ever look back.
Oh yah those other guys "NVIDIA" have a pretty decent AIW thing too. Great DVD player anyway. But they are not nearly as mature as ATI's offerings.

The card is great!
Has decent software,great support and a good forum for answers to Noobie quests.
On board decoder is what you want so that you can frag and watch your favorite soaps at the same time
Very little CPU usage
