Yes, you can get a cable splitter. I had the same problem, and I bought a 1 > 4 splitter with built in signal amplifer for about $16 at best buy. There is still a little loss in picture quality, but it's not very bad at all.

Thanks alot for the response how does the splitter look and does it connect to like the back of my tv cable box because my tv is in another room than my computer?

Go to your local Radio Shack and check out the splitters. You'll need to run a length of cable from the TV room to your computer.

for my set-up, i have the tv in the same room as the computer and i bought one of those splitters so i could have cable on both my computer and my tv

Oh I think I got you so besides the splitter I may need a cable to go from the cable box to my computer? what would be the name of this splitter if you guys know? thanks alot for the responses guys.

Umm, just a standard coaxial (coax) cable.

thanks for the response ok gotcha know would I also need a extra cable wire to connect to the tv tuner? thanks

I did roughly the same thing, here's the splitter I got, at Best Buy,
http://www.theforumisdown.com/uploadfiles/users/mccorkle/files/cable splitter.JPG

I ran the main cable line (coming out of the floor) into the single
connector at the top, and two other cables (as mentioned above) run from the other two connectors, one to the cable modem, and one to the TV card. I don't have TV in my comp room, so I just
watch tv on my secondary monitor.

I'm sorry, but you paid HOW MUCH for that? I bought one exactly like it. . . actually two. . . for $2-3 each at Walmart. Target had about the same prices. The cable was equally cheap.

I run my TV off one outlet, and my cable modem/tv-tuner are split from another outlet.

You do need TWO extra cable lengths if you want to use the splitter btw.

Wow, $16 for a 4 way? That is expensive!

I bought one locally at a dollar store and paid $1cdn for one :D. Works like a charm as well.
