I'm looking for a TV. I want to keep it under $500 (after shipping if it's online) and it has to be at least 26". It's going to be used mainly for gaming (xbox 360) but occasionally i'll use it as a plain old tv. I'm also going to hook some new 2.1 speakers up to it and if possible i'd like it to be able to play out of both the integrated speakers as well as my 2.1 speakers.

I was looking at this:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...2E16889253200R

There's a retail box of that for $350. I noticed the resolution on that is 1366 x 768 whereas toshiba has a newer 32" with a resolution of 1920 x 1080. Will that make a massive difference?

any suggestions?

Will I be able to notice the 1080p? I was told you can't notice it unless it's above 42".
BS, the devil is always in the details, and most people cannot be bothered explaining them to you. It all depends on your viewing distance.

Viewing distances vary much of the time. Sometimes you'll be sitting far back and never notice the difference between 720P and 1080P. But there are other times when you'll be sitting closer, such as 6ft or less, and then i guarantee you'll notice the difference.

There are possible instances where 720P would have drawbacks, whereas 1080P would rarely hamper you. Not to mention that Blu-Ray and PC's and all future consoles will use 1080P.

So personally i say you future proof yourself for every scenario and go 1080P, and a 32" inch would be perfectly fine for your use imho ;)

I ended up getting a 32" Toshiba 1080p TV. I'll be sitting about 5 feet away from it so it should be well worth it to get 1080p.
