TV Out to VCR

My VCR has been the only way to get the composite/s-video stream to my TV because it only has a coax connection. I purchased a WinTV PVR-150 and tried the s-video out on my Geforce 3 to my VCR. Nothing happens. I can select TV - still nothing. I've tried video1/2 on the VCR as well as other channels - nada. This works fine when I connect my DVD player to the VCR but not the computer.

Is there a setting I'm missing? Is this possible? Is there some copyright protection disallowing it? Will I have to purchase a composite to coax splitter? Any help would be greatly appreciated. :)

make sure that you have your monitor AND tv enabled in the drivers. on one of the pages there is a "force detect tv" box to check. i have to use this to have my cards detect my old sony 32" on composite. there are several other settings for tv out in the driver applet. make sure they are all correct. also, you might have to cycle power on your vcr whenever you make a change.

I did all that and it just wouldn't work with the geforce 3. I remember I had a 9800pro lying around. Since I finally gave up on Linux, I plugged it in and it worked. The video looked crappy (but better than the geforce) - so I turned the resolution and capture rate to 12/MB. Things just looked blurry. So I gave up and took the card back.

I've spent a solid week on this project. If that's normal of video capture, I'll wait something better. A TiVo equivalent that doesn't lock you out would be nice. Anyway... I'm going to bed... Good night

At first you talked about "TV out", now you're talking "video capture".. two entirely different things. What exactly are you trying to do? Get your PC stuff onto the VCR/TV or your old videos into the PC?
