According to a new study, people will spend more time watching TV than they will on the web…at least for the next three or four years. Wasn’t there another study done two weeks ago that said almost the opposite of what this study says?

Time spent watching television will rise faster than leisure time spent on the Web through 2012, while a major audience for Internet video could take even longer to develop, consultancy Bain & Co said on Thursday.

These predictions always turn out to be very accurate. Like the soft landing for the housing market.

I spent easily 5 times more on the computer than watching TV... all the current shows out are CRAP

I didn't read it so does this include time on the web at work? If so then that would be the case since I can't watch TV at work. If it only includes off work time then I easily spend more time on TV.

i spend way more time online and gaming than i do watching tv.. tv for the most part is GARBAGE..

why tv sucks:
  • commercials
  • infomercials
  • lame sitcoms
  • lame reality shows
  • lame news shows which only cover: death, destruction, and celebrities
  • other annoyance issues (such as when a commercial comes on the volume is blasting)
  • oh the list goes on

sorry i just had to pull out a rant lol.. movies on the other hand are cool

Does that include people who watch tv ON their computers, i am sure they dont account for all those tv tuner cards :)

QFT... and more.

Television is just a "propaganda sensory overload box" that makes me friggin' homicidal.

When you can be "interactive" on the net... gaming (hardcore!), checking out info on upcoming music/bands/films of interest, graphic art (looking and learning), or just spending time being creative on your PC in general... someone I find it hard to believe that television will become "more popular" than the net, ever.

There are a few shows that my wife and I find entertaining, mainly of the animated kind (ATHF, baby! lol... Family Guy etc.) and a few with real live people, such as Dirty Jobs, Cash Cab (hey, a show that actually makes you think!), Mythbusters and some general things on the History Channel and the Discover Channel... but the rest is just fodder for the brain. Even then, I cant watch too much TV.

The news? LOL! Yeah, right... it's like sticking needles in my fucking eyes.

I'd trust walking into the midst of a pack of wild dogs with a raw steak tied to my fucking ball-sack, more than I'd trust anything "reported" on the news.

Not to mention the droning on and on and on, pounding pointless, aggravating and depressive (to some) shit into your brain.

I spend most of my time watching movies on that box than anything.

So true. There is no good reason to watch broadcast news anymore, daily show and colbert report excluded

I hate this to.. and i want to know WHY THE FUCK DO THEY NEED TO BLAST THE DAMN VOLUME ANYWAYS... AHHHHH

tv sucks.. being on the internets is betters :D

I guess my demographic just isn't represented in these polls. I watch maybe 3 hours of tv a week (including tv shows on DVD), versus 12+ web-surfing and 8+ in multiplayer gaming.
