Looking for a new TV

I've got about $1200 to spend on a new TV for my dorm next year (Texas State U) and im looking for opinions on TV sets... uses will be mainly TV, DVD, some PS2 and Xbox360 when it is released (so 720p would be nice). The dorm I am in is more like an apartment so while space is still at a premium I can fit a rather large set (Prefer LCD or DLP over Plasma due to longetivity). I'm mainly looking for opinions on TV's themselves rather than places to buy (I have an uncle who can get me wholesale prices :p) Any suggestions?

You wouldn't be sorry if you bought the Dell 2405fpw ($950ish) but you would need a sound source like Logitech z-5500's ($223ish @ Dell) or a receiver / speaker setup.

My brother loves his 34" Sony XBR (wide) that he bought at a year end clearance with no tax for $1500? Probably one of the best pictures on the market. I think they only use it to play Halo 2 on. He uses his Dell 2405fpw for when they link xboxes. Sorry this TV might be too big. :(

well seeing as I already have a 2001FP + my CRT (for FPS games) im not really looking at getting another monitor per-say... really looking the 27-32" LCD screens mainly (possibly DLP though unlikely)

PLASMA! , or if not a edtv, or a projector, i dont reccomend a lcdtv , just doesnt look that great as a tv.

Check out the Spectre LCD TV's that Costco sells you can have a 30 in LCD TV for as little as 800 dollars some times. They get pretty good reviews on AVSForum for their level (i.e. budget lcd)
