TV Entertaiment System

Hey guys, I really did not know where to post this, but figured this would be a good spot.

Me and my siblings just got my parents a 46inch LCD tv . I want to get my parents like an entertaiment system for this tv.

Just maybe a decent DVD player, along with some nice speakers, but I have no idea what to get.

My budget is around $100 to $200.
Any suggestions?

Home theater in a box. They come with a small receiver/DVD player and all the speakers. I don't generally like them but considering your budget they're the only thing in your price range. I would recommend Blu-Ray over DVD but that will probably blow your budget as well.

I think you're going to be hard pressed to find good one in that price range. I've done some looking and I think this would be a good one and it will even upconvert DVDs.

Dad will like the Bluray better, but mom won't know the difference -- I say get them a blu ray player that does netflix for $100-120, then get them a few months of netflix so they can stream some videos...

Ha, guys.
My parents are in their fiftys.
They still watch a lot of Indian movies on VHS.

Trust me,, they don't need BlueRay.

i would find the best divx player you could. i did that for my 50y/o hillbilly uncle. he didnt understand it at first, loves it now. it plays dvd's like a vcr, and i can give him 'special' discs that have like 5 movies on one cd. he loves it. it was a $50 phillips model too, they are really good these days.

For older people like that, any HTIB is going to sound much better to them. There are plenty in the 200 range. Check slickdeals, they have been posting a few up every now and then.
