Turntable to receiver?

Hey [H].

I just acquired a Gemini PT-2000 II. Never really been into Vinyl, thought I would give it a try though.

I am not sure how to connect this as my receiver does not have phono inputs. From googling, I need a phono pre-amp? If this is correct, can anyone point me to a few selections? The pre-amp connects to the receiver?

Yes, you need a phono pre-amp which will take the turntable's output and convert it into your typical stereo RCA output. This output would then be connected to your receiver using one of its analog stereo inputs.

Assuming the table is stock, this is a DJ turntable with a DJ cartridge. You're really not going to benefit from an expensive phono pre-amp. Given that, and that you are only looking to experiment, I would assume a limited budget.

Search on amazon for a "phono preamp" and choose a well reviewed unit from one of the pro audio brands, Behringer, etc.. These should come in at around $20 or under.
 
You'll have to connect the turntable ground too, I assume the pre amp will have a place to do that
 
Or... you can visit goodwill and get a $30 amp/receiver with phono out ^^
