Turn on stove, Computer shuts down

Let's stay on topic and for those of you who are causing problems get the chip off your shoulder. This is your warning. Ok?

Just to clarify, when I said "damage" I didn't mean "damage to my house" ... LOL I meant damage at some point within the power system. My house and my block thankfully had no damage, but many in my area were damaged. It has been over a year and a half though. I don't know that this is even relevant, I'm just trying to offer as much info as I can in case someone has run into this situation.

The way I see it, at present, is that maybe is *was* a coincidence with the stove, but I'm still a bit uncomfortable about it. Maybe I got a run of weak power supplies and the 6800 GT killed them off because it draws a lot of power. Two of them were with a Prescott in conjunction with the 6800 GT, and I was unaware until I was trying to figure all of this out that Prescotts draw a lot of power.

Katrina probably has nothing to do with it, either.

My system *is* stable right now, but I'm probably not going to be satisfied until I check the power lines. I've had other odd things happen lately that indicate that something is not right (like an electric blanket that shorted out, etc.). I could be worrying for nothing, but I've just had too many weird power related troubles lately to just blow it off as nothing.

Funny how i have a problem like that but that when my cental AC turns on, every time it turn on my APC's go on batt for 10 secs then back online, my place is 4 years old and it has been doing it since day one. maybe its time to call someone and check whats going on.

The problem with your AC sounds like a incorrectly wired GFI (ground fault interupt). Those aren't usually on circuits outside of the kitchen, bathrooms, and garages though. (Any place a circuit is likely to have ground problems or get wet)

They are easy enough to figure out, I'd check that you don't have one with a poor ground connection wired right before the plug you are using.
