Turn off PSU when computer shuts down

My current server runs off a UPS and I've had no problems thus far. Planning for the future, though, I want to know if it's possible to have the PSU itself shut down (fans, lights, etc.) when the computer shuts down. This way the machine consumes ~0W and I can run the rest of my UPS devices longer.

Is there a wire connection or something that I need to do? It seems like most OEM machines are able to do this.

Sounds more like you're putting your machine into S1 sleep mode.

If this is true, someone needs to go into the bios & change the "stand-by" mode to S3 or similar.
 
The motherboard led should stay on, howerver all fans should stop at least a few seconds after powering down.
 
My computer is running Ubuntu Server, and the last time I shut down, the case fan remained on. So it could be a BIOS option? I'll have to look at that next time I make an upgrade.
 
the pc wil consume nothign but the ups will still be using a little i would think/.
 
It's possible that Ubuntu doesn't have complete ACPI support for your system and just halted instead of powering off. I've experienced this problem before with Linux. What hardware are you running?
