i have a vantec "stealth" 530 watt psu, and its loud as hell. theres 2 intakes and one blower in the back, the one in the back creates all the noise. I can turn it off by putting the switch in the back(that controls the speed of that fan) inbetween intervals. some air still comes through because of the two intake fans. if i do this is will my psu overheat/exploe/die? Its really annoying how loud this thing is..

If you've still got air moving through it, and it doesn't feel a ton warmer than before, you are probably fine. I turned off the 80mm fan on the back of my Enermax 465-?? and left the 92mm intake on the bottom running, and it still runs quite cool.

I took my Antec apart( I know, not reccomended) and wired the fans to my fan contoller, I keep them up pretty high while I am gaming and turn em down when I just surf. it works pretty well for me. The connector inside is just a regular 2 wire connector that plugged right into my fan controller, Then I took the Blue wire that goes to the MOBO fan monitor and wired that also, so I can monitor the RPM's
