Guys - I have an older v.2 Linksys WRT54G Wireless b/g router and would like to simply turn this guy into a AP only since I have a router / firewall running IPCop. Is this a simple task or is there a special procedure? I am not sure I can simply plug this into the LAN to set it up for AP mode and not mess anything up as right now I am sure it is set to be a router as well. So what happens when two machines with the 192.168.1.1 IP get on the LAN is beyond me - I would assume there would be a collision of some sorts but if anyone has any info, please let me know.

Thanks!

You would set "use as access point" and then give it a static IP on your network.

OK - lets say my interface on my Firewall for wireless (blue) is 192.168.3.1, would I simply assign any random IP in that subnet to the AP (i.e 192.168.3.100)?

Red = external DHCP provided IP
Green = 192.168.1.1 (internal)
Orange = 192.168.2.1 (DMZ)
Blue = 192.168.3.1 (wireless)

iirc, all I had to do was turn off dhcp on mine.

How many connections do you need? I'd limit your scope to a /24.
