hello everyone, is there a way to turn off a core so the laptop will not heat up so fast? and does dual core basically mean (if the processor was 1.6ghz) 1.6ghz times 2 = 3.2ghz?

thanks for the help

setting up powernow! will decrese heat output greatly.

No, a dual core 1.6ghz is NOT a 3.2ghz. It is two 1.6ghz processors. If a program is single-threaded it runs just like it would on a regular 1.6ghz processor, though you could run two of them simultaneously with little to no slowdown. If the program is multithreaded it will run faster than a normal 1.6ghz would run it, but by how much depends on how the program is written.

o so its a 1.6ghz... :( i thought it would be like as fast as a 3ghz

well how do i turn on powersave now., i cant find it in control panel

well, just because it is 1.6, doesn't mean it's a slouch. Enjoy that lappy - its pretty fast

i hvae amd 64bit,,so i dont think its hte xp 64, its media center

If you dont know, then it is the regular one.

It doesnt matter what chip you have in this case. Instead it matters what OS you have. Just get the windows XP one, and you'll be good to go....

??/ need help please and i googled already

wtf do you mean you googled it. I just typed in "download amd powernow dashboard" and the first link was a page with the download link. Here.

i saw that bt thats not the newest version

and i just downloaded that and after i was done and open up the applications it says theres no drivers to access AMD processor information. please reinstall.

no it says the version of the CPU driver currently installed must be uninstalled before the driver may be loaded

so no, it doesnt work

Did you download and install the AMD CPU driver before the dashboard? Its likely that it needs the proper CPU driver before it can control the powernow features...
