Greetings

I've got a socket 478 P4 with a cooler I'd like to replace. I bent the mounting clip on my old cooler, a Zalman CNPS7000, beyond repair. I could give a long explanation but the simple answer is that it happened because I'm stupid. I'm aware that the Tuniq may be seen as overkill on an outdated processor, but I'm quite sure that I want to get it, if not for anything but the emotional responses it may invoke by those who see it under the hood of my case. Mostly myself.

I know that socket 478 is listed under the compatible socket types, but I was hoping to see if anyone's done it already, or heard of it being done. I searched forums, google for a while, but I haven't seen any mention of it being done, much less any tutorials.

The Tuniq comes with a mounting clip a 478 system ..

That is backed by a step-by-step guide (with pics) in the manual. I wish i had a scanner i could have put it up for you.

Also, you could try Terrice, marketing@tuniq.com.tw.. he seemed responsive to my query.

It's been mounted; the only problem is that the fan ends up facing up (or down, depending on user choice), instead of facing towards the rear of the case as it does when mounted on a Socket 775. This is kind of a problem since my PSU is directly above the thing, so temps are relatively high; thus far I'm getting pretty much the same temps as that from my stock cooler, since airflow is limited and the thermal grease hasn't worked itself in yet. I'm gonna try putting the fan in the other way so it faces down to see if that helps, and mod a duct or something into my side panel to help get that air out of the freakin case when I get around to it.
