Any1 else have this issue?

I seem to lose complete control of my fan controller on my Tuniq Tower 120 at times.

I need to look into this more, but I feel like I am not always able to increase the fan inside the heatsink to 100%.

Sometimes, It is significantly louder when I turn the knob up all the way, but other times I can hardly tell the difference.

Right now, It is working so that I can hardly tell the difference, and using a few mobo utilities, it reads the fan at ~1700rpm when the controller is turned up and ~700rpm when turned down.

Yet, when I begin a CPU stress test, I can hear some fan or fans spool up and I looked to see the CPU fan adjusting towards ~2500rpm.

I can more or less hear it spool up when my CPU reaches the 50C mark, which makes it sound thermally controlled inbetween ~1700rpm to 2500rpm.

Nevertheless, when the turning of the knob is noticeably louder, I do not recall it spooling up at the 50C mark, as if it was already turning at its max speed.
 
Sounds like it's being pwm controlled still. Some motherboards have the option of controlling the CPU fan via voltage instead of a PWM signal, so if you don't want it adjusted via the CPU temp, make sure the BIOS is set to not control fan speed.
 
Alright, I checked my BIOS (abit ip-35 pro) and found an option relating to the thermal control of the CPU fan. I disabled the option and headed to my desktop to rerun the CPU tests.

With the thermal control disabled and cpu tests active the max rpm was 1700 (and variable down to 720), not even the before seen max of 2200rpm.

So, I headed to BIOS and re-enabled the setting, ran the test and yet again I was capped at 1700rpm.

I had other things to do, dinner and such on a friday night... and now am back with a "fully controlled CPU fan speed" of 720-2200rpm.

I am fairly certain, but not sure, that the BIOS setting is "enabled" for thermal control.

What could be causing these changes?
 
Anyone have any idea how my CPU fan could be switching from half manual control/half thermal control to fully manual control?
