Tulsa’s Interactive Meth Lab Map

I'm going to assume that these were methlabs that have already been raided or dealt with by authorities.

Damn... its blocked here at work. I really wanted to send this to my co-workers since the City of Tulsa is a major client of ours. hahaha

Try reading the very SHORT description guys, Jesus Christ.

second damned sentence:
This map depicts where Tulsa Police have discovered meth labs since January 2008.

wow...that's a lot of meth labs...i want to see this for more cities.

I might move there jsut to make sure my kids are all fucked up at 12...
The worse, more than half of the addresses have "Arrests" to no...

Yeah it says that in the link, Its just like the registered sex offender list...

Jeez, I wonder if there are more meth labs or sex offenders in the area.

I'm just waiting for them to put out maps of all crimes and criminals.. People wouldn't want to go out anymore. :p

Curse this piece of shit called IE6 for locking up when I open that site, and curse my workplace for not letting me update.

Today’s installment of “technology gone wrong”

Seems more like technology gone right.

I worked in a newsroom back in the early 90s, and when I was getting ready to move from an apartment to a house, I was able to use the newspaper's crime database to do searches on locations. I found out that one house I was looking at was directly across the street from a busted meth lab; another one was within a block of three people convicted of drunken driving.

I thought at the time that it would be great if everyone had access to this kind of aggregated information. Now they do.

Wow, that is a ridiculously large number of meth labs for such a small map section, haven't they heard of energy drinks

Metro (Las Vegas) has that. You have to seriously narrow it down to be able make use of it though. But you can get all major crimes (burglary, rape, assault, domestic dispute, murder, drugs, etc) in an area with dates.

Yeah, unfortunately Tulsa and the surrounding area's have a huge meth problem. Biggest problem is that its cheap to make with a good profit return. I live in Broken Arrow, just outside of Tulsa and the problem is almost as bad here.

Live in Tulsa, don't need this stupid map to tell me which areas are crime ridden. If you were moving to Tulsa, this map might be useful. One useful thing you can do with this map is find out if the house you were looking to buy or apartment you were looking to rent was a methlab previously. Apparently, realtors or leasors are not required by law to tell you if the place was previously a methlab. As a rule of thumb, don't even bother with anything north of 41st Street South, that's the wrong side of town and were you don't want to live. A funny thing happened couple months back, there were 3 fires on different days in the same week, in the same apartment complex. Cause? Methlabs. I bet the police just had to go door to door to get a few busts in that complex.

Methlabs to sex offenders is a 1:1 ratio.

Now someone needs to scour Street Map and see if any of those places were obvious at the time streetmap went past :D

I live near Tulsa and the sad thing is even though these are all the meth lab's that have been busted, there are probably at least this many that haven't yet. I'm originally from NY and I have never seen anything like it down here. People hare are not the brightest per capita from what I've seen (wal-mart browsing) and this may have something do with it. Now the question is, are they stupid because they do meth, or do they do meth because they are stupid...

Well if you're trying to judge a population by who you've seen at Wal-Mart, you're going to get a pretty stupid cross-section of the population no matter where you're at.

Anyways, I live in Oklahoma City and some of my family lives in Tulsa. Everyone knows N. Tulsa is an absolute hellhole. There are parts that even the police refuse to go, and most EMT's wont' venture there without a police escort. It's like a little slice of south central LA, nothing but drugs and gangs.

To be fair though, there's so much meth throughout the midwest, I bet the map of most cities would look pretty similar. Ever been to Topeka, Wichita, Dayton? Plenty of meth in those places too.

Was just looking at that, most of them are pretty unassuming, but theres a large gap in the street view coverage where a large cluster of them were discovered. The driver was probably afraid to go in that area ;)
