I'm sure this has been asked countless times, but I can't seem to find a topic with search so I'm going to go ahead and post here...

I will be getting this waterblock:

and a Black Ice Pro 120 mm.

I have the option of either 1/2" or 3/8" outer diameter fittings for the radiator and 1/2" or 3/8" INNER diameter fittings for the waterblock.

This will be my first H2O setup (forgive the n00bishness), but which size fittings should I get for both the block and rad? The differences in sizes are kinda throwing me off...

I'm just looking to cool my CPU and it has to be somewhat "bend-able". These will be combined with a 12V DC pump and a reservoir/fillport of some sort.

Help me out please folks! :)
 
Should be safe to say choose 1/2 on everything. Some manufacturers use the ID of the tubing and some use OD of the fitting. Either way its the same. I have the same radiator with 1/2OD fittings. Also check out DTEK they have slightly better prices and good service. I have ordered all my WC stuff from them pretty much. I would also use ClearFlex tubing. I got some other stuff from FrozenCPU and its alright but not and bendable. Good Luck!
 
I would advise .. 1/2inch barbs (given in OD) and 7/16ths ID tubes... the masterkleer stuff is pretty good and cheap too

the extra 1/16ths smaller = fit's a little more snug ...

some people even use 3/8ths on 1/2barbs but you usually have to soften it with boiling water to fit them onto the barbs... but if you do that you don't need any kind of hose clamps, it's really tight when it cools...

it turns out that 1/2 barbs have a actual hole size of 3/8ths and since that is also the ID of 3/8ths tubing there is no additional restriction added by using 3/8ths tubes on 1/2 barbs... (i'm sure some will disagree with that but i've found it to be the case).


blah blah blah = masterkleer 7/16ths .. can't go wrong .. get plenty of it
