I was just wondering if tubing really made that much of a difference because i can get 1/2 id tubing at cost from Rona (Canada's Home Depot) which is like pennies/foot. Where as some stores are selling tubing for like $1.50/foot. Is cheap tubing going to to anything to my water or discolor or anything? I don't plan on using any dye in it. Just distilled water and water wetter. Oh yea and can water wetter be used instead of anti-freeze?

Cheap tubing won't do anything to the system. It will be a pain in the arse to run though. Typically the tubing from home inprovement stores is thin walled (1/16" thick), and is very rigid compared to what you can buy online from a watercooling shop. It will also tend to kink easy, and may do so after you are satisfied that it isn't going to (usually at the most inopertune time too... like when you leave the PC on to go catch a few movies and have it folding and under a bit of stress).

You will be much better off learning up front what others have through trial and error... The system will only be as good as the parts you put into it, and the tubing you are thinking of using isn't a good choice. Go with Tygon, 7/16" i.d., 3/32" thick wall, 5/8" o.d. if you can. It was reccomended to me by Cathar himself.

-edit- I would also use Zerex and not Watter Wetter (the pinkish/reddish stuff...). Watter wetter has been known to damage acrylic.

if you want clarity, resistance to chemicals, and resistance to kinking get tygon :D

In terms of performance it doesn't matter, but it will matter for your sanity. Inflexible tubing is a nightmare to work with, and you have to be really careful to to let it exert a constant heavy force on your blocks.
