TT Lanbox PSU question

I'm thinking about getting an Enermax 620 Liberty or a Enermax 720 Infiniti to put in my newest Lanbox (one with handle) build. I was wondering what would be the best posistion to put the PSU in the Lanbox? TT says put the fan down on the CPU (e6850 with soon to be purchased CNPS8700 NT fan) and some forum users suggest putting the fan in the oppositie posistion. Does anyone have real world data concerning this issue? Obviously, I'm afraid of heat and I want as much as possible taken from the case. Also, which on of these PSU's would be the best to handle 2 Raptor sata Drives better (or without overkill with room for potential expansion), 1-8800GTS EVGA ACS OC'd gpu, DSR2 Mobo, with blu ray drive?

For starters, do you need such a large PSU? For what you described (2 raptors, 8800GTS, optical drive), a 620 or 720 watt PSU would be overkill. A good 500 watt PSU would easily get the job. The main reason I mention is this is that when you start getting to the 600-700w range, the PSU's get larger in size, which can restrict your airflow and/or bump into your optical drives.

Secondly, the positioning of your PSU should depend on the type of cooler you have. Usually if your CPU cooler is fanless or blows upwards, you should want to position your PSU with the fan down so it sucks out the hot air from the CPU cooler and puts its outside the case. If your CPU cooler blows, downwards, you should position it with the fan upwards so that it doesn't create a dead zone or counteract the downward blowing CPU cooler.
 
How much clearance do you have between the top of the 8700 and the PSU? (100mm-8700's height... approx 30mm I believe?)

Width shouldn't be a problem for the 8700 (it almost ALMOST was for my XP120.)

You'll want to either route airflow from the front/sides into the CPU and exhausting with the 60mm's, or reverse the 60mms and go for positive pressure.
 
Thanks for the help guys. I'm not sure about the clearance just yet. I haven't commited myself just yet to the 8700nt but I think it will be okay- I think. I still have to do some reasearch. As far as t he PSU being large- it may get used in another machine which is more demanding. Just depends on how it works out in this machine as fat as heat. I believe the 8700 Zalman series blows upward so I want the PSU fan below that, correct? Just like TT says in the Lanbox manual? Also, about the reversing the 60mm to create positive pressure, is this the only thing I would have to do and is it beneficial in the Lanbox case? I wish there were more pics on the net with people with a similiar set-up but I can't seen to find any. Anyway, thanks again for your help.

The 8700 is downwards, like the 7 series. Or so I would imagine. Judging by the fanblade shape...

You want the PSU fan facing upwards.

60mms reversed: Beneficial? Don't know. They don't fit with my XP120. I imagine so, depending on your board lay out. You're bringing in fresh air (and your PSU barely warms up the air anyways) directly to the cooler. The 92mm front fan doesn't really have direct flow to your NB/RAM/CPU because of the (board dependent) ATX 24-pin connector (and in my case, the IDE cable as well. Good job Gigabyte.).

It's a 90mm fan, not 92mm, very common mistake with this case. I've even seen reviews of the case refer to it as a 92mm. It's not, I've taken it out, measured it, and bought a replacement 90mm fan. And the Thermaltake website and documentation refers to it as a "9cm" not a "9.2cm" fan. Also, there's a spot for an additional 60mm fan over the card slots, as well (for three fans in back). I recommend adding a third 60mm fan to the back.
 
92 or 90mm, it doesn't really matter. But officially, most 90~mm fans are 92mm. Thermaltake's just lazy. If you do a quick search anywhere, they're listed as 92mm.

Trust me.

If a 92mm fan didn't fit in a 90mm's holes (if), then why does my 92mm Antec Tricool fit?
