TSMC and FinFET's

Don't confuse desktop GPU's with smartphone ARM CPU's.

Notice how there aren't even any 20nm desktop GPU's out yet.

After distilling this article the point is GPUs with 20 nm have rather short time frame to show up since 16 nm node will be available soon though it is to be in full volume near the end of 2015 which is quite long ramp up time. In fact there were speculations Nvidia may skip 20 nm and go directly to 16 nm.

i believe i read that samsung, whos making Apples 14nm cortex chips, already tested their samples at 14nm in december of last year.

We'll be right back in this same 20nm delay boat in 2 years if they skip 20nm and don't give TSMC some time, or make the switch to a different semi manufacturer. Given each node buys both sides about 2 solid years before they push things, no way TSMC wraps up 10nm and below in that time frame.
