pc one is runing win XP upgrade from 98, pc two is runing win XP home and is the one with the printer (HP PSC 1210 all in one). neither pc can connect to the other and pc one will not regonize the printer on pc two. the computer names are correct, the printer name is correct but nothing seems to be connecting. help?

possible you have to load the drivers for the printer on each computer.

i've been thinking of doing this with my sister's computer cause of her schoolwork and the canon printer downstairs is broke,so she can't print stuff from the computer downstairs.

If neither pc can connect to one another as you stated above then theres no way you can see the printer from pc #1 since the printer is hooked directly to pc #2. no connection between pc's means no printer recognition from pc 1...run the network setup wizard so as the pc's can recognize one another.. may also have to set up identical user accounts on each pc as well since your using home edition. HTH

have ran network connections and it still doesnt work. both are in the same workgroup as well, and nothing.

you ran network connections ?? you mean cables ?? If so you then need to run the network setup wizard ( easiest way ) so that it will share the computers and they will recognize each other.. do you have these pc's connected via a router or a hub ?? just curious..
