I just got my x800pro vivo and I want to flash it, however I have a few problems

First of all my floppy drive doesn seem to work so booting off a floppy is out unless I can find another floppy drive.

So I created a bootable CD with nero and booted off that and then attempted to access atiflash and the bios that I had on my C: drive. After starting atiflash the keyboard stops responding. Strangley enough it used to respond just fine, and I was able to use the program. however when I typed the command: atiflash -s 0 oldbios.bin (which was supposed to save the bios from the card) it said "could not access oldbios.bin" which I found weird b/c it was supposed to be saving the bios. At this point my keyboard would stop responding. IT did this mabye two times, but now it just stops responing as soon as i execute atiflash.exe.

Is this a problem with the nero boot disk? atiflash? Can I not run atiflash from my windows partition?

any input to waht I'm donig wrong, what I need to do to fix this?

Try barts boot disc. I was able to flash w/o a floppy. Just shoved all the files i needed in the root of C to make it easy to find.

tried it, same thing happens

as soon as it says "LOADING ROOT KERNEL GO!"

it freezes and I cant do anythng but restart.

no-one has any ideas?

no-one has heard of computer freezing when loading from boot disks?

Its been over a year since I was flashing vivo's but I remember the commands being different. I will see if I can find my doc that I had made for myself (I flashed about 9 of the things by the time I was done)

has nothing to do with the commnads, rather the fact that my computer freezes whenever I boot from a Boot CD, and my floppy drive doesnt work so floppy booting is out also

Guess I jsut have to use another computer....

instability in dos is usually a ram problem....try removing sticks 1 at a time (assuming you have two)

Well I used another computer and flashed it using its floppy drive. However I did also try the Bootable CD's on that computer and I had the exact same problems. So I'm doubting its my ram, must be something with the boot CD's.

Anyway I flashed it to x800xtpe to unlock the pipes with -newbios option, and then back to by old bios without the -newbios option so I can still use my vivo functionailties.

The pipes unlocked just fine and overclocked to 500/560. Overall 1000 points increase in 3dmark05 from stock x800pro.

I'll run memtest on my ram anyway but I've never had problems with it before and dont think that was the problem. Anyway almost not quite xt pe speeds, but close.
