Trying to find a program i see everyone using

Hey guys, almost everytime i see screenshots, i notice that people have something like a calender that is transparent right on the desktop that tells them anything from peoples birthdays to the song they are playing etc.... can anyone direct me to where i might be able to find something like this?

konfabulator seems to be awesome... but takes up too much memory on my sh!tty system .... i tried samurize and it seems like setting everything up woudl take forever lol.... crappy UI
