trying to dual lboot Windows XP w/ ubuntu installed first

I made the space for XP now i'm trying to install it but it says there's no hard drive detected when I'm trying to install XP.

Any ideas? thanks.

P.S. i'm on the machine now using ubuntu so obviously the computer detects the HD.

Well that shouldn't matter should it since it doesn't even recognize the hard drive (So I shouldn't have any format issues).

If Windows installer can't find either a partition it can install to or unpartitioned space on the drive it'll appear as if it doesn't even find a drive.

If the drive has been partitioned under another OS, and a FAT or NTFS partition isn't the type created......

well i have unallocated space set aside (about 70 gigs) and it still doesn't recognize it. I tried formating it (with ubuntu) to NTFS and it still won't recognize it.
