Trying to backup files from old NT server.....

I have some files that need to be backed up from this old NT Dell server. It only has one small scsi hard drive, cd rom, and no USB. Not too long ago an IDE hard drive was installed, but here is the first problem. I am not familar with NT at all and for some reason it will not copy any files from partition to partition. The scsi drive is partitioned and I cant even transfer one small file from c: to d:. I was thinking about taking out the cd rom and hooking up a new cd burner and try to back up the files that way, but am not sure if a new cdr will work with the old hardware and NT. Any help is much appreciated.
