I have a Asus P5W-DH deluxe, and when I connect the power connector to the motherboard, there are 4 pins remaining at the end. Do I need a new power supply? I heard that this may be hapening because the True Blue isn't an atx rev. 2. I bought it about 3 years ago. Thanks for the help!

That's because the True Blue only has a 20pin ATX connector. Just get an adaptor.
 
ATX 20-pin to 24-pin adaptors are not recommended by either the mobo or PSU manufactures.

Also that is an older PSU, what is the +12V amperage rating?

If less than +12V@26A, a new PSU is highly recommended.

So you need 26A on the 12V rail to power a Asus P5W-DH deluxe w/ CPU? In the sticky FAQ thread Jonny did some tests and a 20-24pin adaptor hardly effected voltages.

It depends on the adaptor & the mobo.
If it is a "good" adaptor then there is very little difference. The problem is we have no idea what adaptor they are going to use.

For any modern mid-range & up up (non-intergrated graphics) PC,
a minimum of +12V@26A or higher is always recommended.
This started with the last generations of AGP & the first generation of PCIe GPU's.

Even the Enhance 400W has +12V@26A.

Well, you could say 'make sure you use a good adaptor' instead of 'don't use an adaptor'. If the OP has a video card then I can see where you are going with the 26A requirement, but we don't know if he does or not. Better to say 'what videocard are you using' then 'if you don't have X amps then get a new PSU'. I hope you see what I mean. You can't go wrong by being safe and saying that you should get a new PSU or whatever, but I think you would ask the OP if something applies to them before you jump to recommending a new PSU.

The PSU & mobo makers all say "do not use adapter", so that is the safest recommendation.

I would have to see the adapter in person, in order to judge its quality.

Nothing less than +12V@26A has been recommended for mid-range & up since 2004,
the requirements get higher, not lower.

If it is proven that an adaptor doesn't cause problems, by none the less JonnyGURU, I don't see a reason not to recommend it. And your dodging what I was saying. I said, why didn't you ask the OP if he is running a video card or if he is just using Integrated graphics. I didn't question why you would recommend 26A on the 12V rail at a minimum for any video card.

That was my PSU until I rebuilt with X2 and SLI. I upgraded to the Antec NeoHE550 just to be safe. Now time to Ebay that bad boy.
