Just got a Thermaltake True 120 rev c and the base is pretty wavey. Anyone else notice this? It actually rocks back and forth a bit when sitting on the cpu, I don't like that at all. Now I am torn between lapping it or exchanging it.

Yes, many users have reported swivel problems with the TRUE and other models based off it. Ive read that lapping can help.

yeah, it's somewhat normal. considering that most ppl that buy the high-end coolers lap them regardless, it isn't too big of a hassle for the performance they can offer.

jus' stop by the hardware store an' get some wet/dry sand paper ranging from 400 to 2500 and find a nice flat surface and have a go at it (probably want to read up on it a little, kinda lazy to type out the whole procedure after that huge bowl of udon, lol).

Ok that's what I will do, just annoying and doesn't seem like a $60 product with something like this.

The base on this thing was pretty bad. These pictures are from two stages about halfway through trying to just level the base out using 220. Should have backed down to 150 grit to wack the thing down but I didn't have any here. What you are seeing in the pictures is the copper portion coming through the black anodized surface plating. That big high spot in the center really isn't a good thing. No joke this thing would rock on the counter if you set it down and it took a lot of work to get copper showing on all areas

Damn. That's bad. Good luck getting everything flat and even - hope you have some decent thermal paste:)

Is all fixed now but took a lot of work. To their credit they shipped decent thermal paste with it too.

I read on their website that they do this intentionally so the it will fit better on some cpu's and so heat will be drawn to the outside or some craziness.

That sounds like marketing spin BS. Someone is an aspiring politician.
