i have had the edimax ew-7128g ever since i dumped my usb wireless dongle that gave me a lot of headache and burned and old p3 system i had.
i've been very pleased with it, especially from the extended antenna, which helps me get some descent signal quality.
a year ago i upgraded to win 7, and all worked fine, until around a month ago.
for some unexplained reason, it started to disconnect occasionally, without prior warning.
i would just not be able to get any site to respond, and then a few seconds later, i would get the wireless sign with the orange/yellow asterisk.
i would open up the wireless connections menu, choose my home net, and click connect.
usually it would just connect straight away, but sometimes i will get an error/troubleshoot message.
i tried installing the "latest" driver from edimax, but that didn't help much.
i wasn't sure if it had anything to do with the fact that i upgraded from onboard to card graphics solutions, i though maybe the heat is affecting the wireless card, so i moved it down a slot, but no change.

any help or advice would be great.

system:
amd athlon x2 3800+
asus m2a-vm hdmi
corsair 2x1gb ddr2 800mhz
windows 7 pro 32bit

an update:

after i posted the earlier post above, i borrowed an edimax ew-7628 mimo card from a friend of mine that wasn't using it, and put in my system instead of the ew-7218 i had.
it worked great, and i though that i had resolved the problem through elimination, that my old card (the ew-7218) was faulty.
a few weeks ago, the symptoms returned. at first i would loose connection, seconds later i would get the small yellow warning sign on my wireless icon. i would disconnect from my network, and reconnect successfully a few seconds later.
now, i can't connect, even if i disable the card, restart the pc, nothing.

i was hoping for some input from you guys, because i'm down to two options:

1) my motherboard i causing some problems on the I/O part.

2) windows might be causing problems with these cards.
