Troubleshooting a Vista WiFi Connection

This Dell Inspiron 1525 is freshly formatted, with the correct drive pertaining to the service tag.

The wifi wouldn't work before I formatted, almost like the switch just needed to be turned on. The switch won't turn on the radio, and I've tried F2, Fn+F2, Shift+F2, to no avail.

What else should I check before I deem the adapter is shot and using a USB adapter?
 
Do you have the newest drivers for it? If that doesn't work after fresh reformat I would say it is gone also. Check your bios that it isn't turned off also.
 
Should I assume that the one on the Dell Support page is the newest one?

And it is enabled in the BIOS...
 
If it is a dell wireless card, I would guess so, if it is made by intel then I would get the drivers from their site.
