Trouble with RADEON 9800 PRO

omg, i'm so mad! LOL i just got in the mail my new sapphire radeon 9800 pro 128mb and thought i'd get rocking... but nooo... i have an old kt333 abit at7 card which is AGP 4x... and stupid thing gives me VGA error on self diagnostic... 1 long + 2 short beeps...

naturally i pluged in external power supply to the card and it's sitting in AGP slot pretty tight, so i doubt it's connectors problem... what can it be??? HEELLP!!!

UPDATE

here's a really odd part! with a pci card i can boot up winxp and it sees radeon. After installing Catalyst 4.2 it was even identified as radeon 9800, but it says that device isn't operational.
 
nope, the radeon card isnt working... motherboard is giving VGA diagnostic error... wondering if there's anything i can do besides RMA... :(
 
How many watts it the PSU you are connecting to the vid card?
 
@Shapeshifter: i dont believe i have such setting. I only found which VGA card to initialize first, VGA or AGP.

@ajm786: i think it's 300w, but i have only 1 hdd and two cd drives... tried unplugging one of them and still nothing.
 
I just tried the card in my older asus a7v133 machine and the card is working... and the PSU in that machine is 160W. so it's not DOA. I'm begining to think it's somehow incompatible with ABIT AT7.
 
there's always that setting, it will either be called something like primary vga (its in there trust me) probably tucked away in one of the sub areas, and it will be either set to Pci, or agp. you want to make sure its set to agp.

"Init Display First" is the only thing i found... checked every single category and subcaregory... i set it to AGP... still nothing
