I have the Altec Lansing ACS56 4.1 speakers and I have an Abit Nf7-s v2 motherboard, but I can't get the two working together. I plug in my black surround sound cable into the appropriate ports into each piece of hardware but my problem is this: my rear speakers don't produce any sounds in games but work perfectly in the NVMIXER(although front speakers create much more volume than rear speakers.) I've tried vice city, cs source, and battlefield but no luck. I even tried connecting the black cable into the line in and setting it up that way but again nothing worked. So if anyone can help me, that would be great. I tried setting it up as 4.1's in nvmixer. thanks.

Have you chosen the speaker arrangement in Windows itself? Go to: Control Panel, Multimedia, Soud Card (or output, something like that), and choose you speaker arrangement. I sort of had this problem, I chose quad in the speaker setup in Windows and didn't get surround in games. I changed it to surround and got it working. I'm thinking this could be the problem here too. And make sure all the surround settings in NVMIXER are good too.

ok, heres the problem, i got it to work like you said but I didnt use the black cable from subwoofer to the soundcard . i used a splitter type cable that i connected the rear speakers directly from the soundcard, not through the subwoofer. this setup works but the rear speakers are practically inaudible unless held to your ear. now, when i hook it up from my subwoofer to pc, all 4 speakers that play are front channel, even in nvmixer. its like it doesnt even recognize the black cable surround sound connection. help?
