hey guys

so i order my pieces and i put them together. im still missing a cpu and a gpu. but decided to see if the fans will still turn on if i plug in the psu.

SeaSonic X Series X650 Gold

so it turns on for a few seconds and then powers down. it makes a weird noise kinda like electrical buzzing but nothing happens.

i was checking online and from what i read it can be either the mobo or the psu.

MSI Z77A-G43 LGA 1155 Intel Z77

do i need all pieces in mounted to tell if anything is wrong? what can i do to check its working?

Attach only a fan or old/dead/dying hard drive to the PSU. Nothing else. Then google "PSU paperp clip test" and start it like that.

Yep, Danny Bui is right. The method you are using is not really turning the power supply on in an operational mode.

Couldn't find a paper clip or extra hdd. So I took apart my parents computer lol so my psu is working just a fine on their computer.

Maybe I was over reacting since its my first build in a long time.

Any idea why it may shut of with my set up? Could it be cause I don't have the CPU or gpu yet?

I guess I can wait till I buy the CPU and gpu in the next two weeks. I just hope it's not a bad mobo now lol *paranoid*
