trouble retrieving private files from my documents

Ok my primary machine's motherboard just died. now i kept all my important files in my documents and its set to private, so i can't just get them by plugging the HD into my other PC because it says access is denied.

I tried booting from the HD in my other PC so i could login and transfer the files, but for some reason it just restarts to post when i try and boot windows xp in normal or safe mode.

Do i have any options left on retrieving this data?

ahh fixed. I used a bootable win PE disc, and the file explorer let me get into these folders! problem solved.
