So I got a hp 300i 4 speed + burner (nec 1100a)

I got a problem that seems to have developed recently though.

It can burn dvds and cds fine and at good speeds. It can play cds fine, it can read from dvds and I havent encountered a problem (though never really moved ALL the data anywhere, just picking and choosing files)

ANYWAYS

every 20-40 minutes when I am playing a dvd I get an illegal operation and it shuts down. I then have to start the movie from teh begining. It does not shut down at the same time in the movie.

I have used 3 movie players:

powerdvd
windvd
intervideo dvd

All 3 exhibit the same problem.

What do you guys think could be causing this? I dont want to reformat but am considering a new dvd burner.

uninstall the movie players , uninstall your video drivers

THEN re-install vid drivers and , say, powerdvd .

if the prob still exists , you may have to delete the regkeys for the other movie players .
