Trouble installing Windows 10

I just built a new rig using a Gigabyte X99 Ultra Gaming motherboard with an I7 6800k and I've never run into this problem before. I don't know if it's a Windows 10 issue, a UEFI issue, or some combination of the two.

If I try to boot from a Windows 10 installation USB, after about five minutes I get this error:

Your PC/Device needs to be repaired

A required device isn't connected or can't be accessed.

Error code: 0xc0000185

This happens regardless of whether or not an SSD is plugged in or if the only drive is the USB with the install media.

Install media has been created both by Microsoft's media creator tool as well as Rufus using the "GPT partition scheme for UEFI" option. This same USB stick was used to successfully install Windows 10 on another machine a week ago.

I can successfully boot into Ubuntu from a Live USB. I can even boot into Windows 10 using an SSD from another machine. All of the hardware of this new build seems to work fine.

What would cause this?

Hmm, I know sometimes the install won't work when the USB media is in a USB3 port. However, I looked up your board and it only has USB3/3.1 Is there a chance you can get a USB2 bracket or front port that plugs into the USB port on the board? If not, do you have a DVD drive?

I don't have any of those things. I appreciate the suggestions though.

After fighting with it literally all afternoon I've just given up and installed drivers for this machine on a fresh install of Windows 10 from another PC. So far everything seems to be working okay, so unless anyone has a silver bullet for how to install from USB I think I might just stick with this and hope for the best. At least for now.
