I am having trouble getting my e6600 past 3.4ghz on a Gigabyte 965p-ds3 motherboard with 620w corsair psu and Windows Vista. However much I raise the voltage, the cpu doesn't want to go any higher without Vista failing to start. It is 100% stable at 3.4ghz 1.45v in bios. The batch # is L629F058.

This is not at all uncommon. I was 3.5Ghz stable in XP until I went to Vista x64 and lost about 100Mhz of stability in Vista. Also, to assume every E6600 will do 3.6GHz stable is a very false assumption. I've had 4 of 'em. 2 couldn't, 2 could. And the ones that could took quite a bit of voltage up that high. 3.4/3.5Ghz was my 24/7 setting. The ones you hear about doing 3.8GHz on air are very rare and they take a TON of Vcore to get 'em there - too much VCore and heat for me. All my 120mm fans run silent like I like 'em, so I'll sacrifice a few hundred Mhz for silence.

Should be listed as MCH OverVoltage Control. Try +1 first. Also, +1 on the FSB OverVoltage Control. And just as others have said, not all E6600's reach 3.6.

MCH OverVoltage and FSB OverVoltage were already +1. I raised to +2 and raised cpu voltage to 1.5v and it booted into vista at 3.6ghz, but BSOD after 2 minutes with TAT stress test. It might be stable if I raised voltage a little bit more, but temps seemed kind of high even at 1.5v. I think I'll leave it at 3.4ghz. Thanks guys. :)
