Trouble getting computer to boot

I've had this computer for three years now with no real troubles. A few weeks back, the GPU started having issues, so I sent it in for an RMA. Just today it returned! Huzzah and all, right?

Having not had the computer on at all for the intervening three weeks, I proceeded to put it in and turn things on. Worked perfectly! For all of two hours. Very suddenly, it all just turned off. Since that moment, whenever trying to turn on the PC at all, it will get 3-5 seconds into boot then just turn off again. Sometimes I can see a glimmer of the POST screen, but only for an instant.

I've tried removing the GPU, but the problem persists. I've tried setting it up as just CPU+mobo+PSU+RAM, and the problem occurs even then. Any idea what might be up?

Are there any red leds on the motherboard staying lit? An equipment list would help. my first suspect is the PSU then the GPU.

Equipment List
---
Motherboard: Gigabye X58A-UD3R
GPU: GTX 580
CPU: i7 950
RAM: 6GB of some variety of G.Skill, forget the specifics. Have tried booting with just one stick in.
I've an 120gb SSD of a brand I can't recall offhand, and a 1TB harddrive that I similar don't know the immediate details of.

No red lights that I've seen stay lit. One thing I just noticed is that it turns off as soon as (what I believe is) the harddrive LED on the front panel gives a single red blink.

Does your CPU fan spin up? Have you checked all the connections (PSU, SATA, IDE, fans, etc.)?

I think I've discovered the problem. I remembered vaguely that when first seating the CPU on purchasing it, one pin was a bit bent, and had to be straightened to get it to boot. I played with it once more... only this time I think I mangled it beyond recognition. Oh well! It's the holiday season anyway, time for that present to the self of building anew.

RMA? Also try breadboarding the PC. This will diagnose all of the new build issues.
