Trouble connecting to Steam?

Has anyone else been having a lot of trouble connecting to steam lately. Over the past week I haven't been able to connect. Steam just sits there at "Connecting Steam account".

The one exception was last night, where I finally got in. Now it stopped again. A number of people are complaining as well on the forums, but so far no one has helped...

I just got a 4850, and I REALLY want to try it out!
 
Completely close Steam. Go into your C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam directory and delete your "ClientRegistry.blob" file. Restart steam, let it do its thing, see if you can connect.
 
I had some troubles for about 45 minutes this morning.

I suspect it's the UT3 discount and UT3 free weekend.
